Export TILOS Files (.xml)

Export balance information, vertical alignment profiles, and ground profiles from a corridor mass haul analysis using the XML file format (.xml). Then import the file into TILOS software to schedule earthmoving.

The exported XML file can include:

  • Vertical alignment profile
  • Ground Profile
  • Usable mass haul ordinate
  • Cut/fill zone locations
  • Balanced cut/fill zone pairs
  • Volume of material transferred from the cut zone to the fill zone
  • Distance the material is transported from the cut zone to the fill zone
  • Earthworks sites
  • Volume of material transferred to and from sites
  • Hauls between two points on the alignment.

To export a TILOS xml file:

Trimble Business Center will export the currently balanced ordinates. You can choose to balance:

  • one or more individual materials
  • all materials combined (usable material ordinate)

Note: Shrinkage and bulkage parameters are only transferred when balances on the individual material ordinates are exported. When balances on the usable ordinate are exported, all volumes in TILOS will be compacted volumes.

  1. Select Export in Home > Data Exchange.
  2. Click the Construction tab and then select TILOS Mass Haul XML exporter in the File Format group.
  3. In the Project Explorer, select the Mass Haul Analysis to export. The Data field in the Export page will show one item selected.
  4. In the File Name box, type a path and file name for the xml file that must be exported.
  5. If you want to export another file after this one, uncheck the Close command after export box.

    In the Settings group:

    • Enter a value for the Site Mass Area Width. This setting controls the width of TILOS mass areas that represent import sites, export sites, processing sites, borrow sites, waste sites, and hauls between two points on the alignment. An entry of 30 will display the mass areas as 30 m/feet on the distance axis of the TILOS mass haulage diagram. The size of the Cut and Fill mass areas are determined from the cut range and fill range in the balance properties. This setting is solely for graphical representation.

Note: You must use a greater width on a long corridor so that the offsite locations are easily visible.

  6. Click Export.

Scenarios:

  • If the mass haul analysis has not been balanced, only the vertical alignment profile and the ground profile are exported.
