balance point

The point in a corridor mass haul where the usable ordinate crosses the zero cumulative volume line. In a mass haul diagram, the station (or stations) along the corridor at which the accumulated cut and fill volumes are equal; the point where the usable ordinate crosses the zero cumulative volume line. At this point, the amount of cut equals the amount of fill.
