Create a Corridor Cul-de-Sac

Use the Create Cul-de-Sac command to create parametric geometry for the end or along a single alignment or corridor. A corridor can end in a roundabout, hammerhead, or knoll (bulge or 'beer belly') shape.

Prerequisites:

To access the command:

To create a cul-de-sac:

  1. From the Alignment or corridor box, pick either the alignment or corridor on which you want to create a cul-de-sac.
  2. From the Begin or end point box, pick one end of the alignment (which may be part of the corridor.

If there is more than one possible intersection location, select the location you want.

  3. In the Name box, type a unique name as you want it to appear in the Project Explorer and Selection Explorer.
  4. Select an option for the cul-de-sac's shape:
    • Turning hammer - Create a T-, X-, or Y- shaped cul-de-sac.

    • Circular cul-de-sac - Create a roundabout cul-de-sac.
    • Knoll cul-de-sac - Create a 'beer belly' shaped cul-de-sac, which is specific to Finnish road design.

  5. To use parameters from a previously saved intersection template, check the Load properties from template box. Also see Load a Corridor Intersection Template.

By default, the Intersection template list is populated with names of files in the folder: C:\ProgramData\Trimble\IntersectionTemplates.

Select a template in the list or click the Browse button, browse to the template file, and click Open.

  6. Click Apply and Close when you are done.

The intersection is created and appears in graphic views, and the Project Explorer.
