Run a Point Comparison Report
You can generate a Point Comparison Report for a selection of point-related objects that includes all of the point pairs that are within a user-specified proximity and flags those that exceed a user-specified horizontal and/or vertical tolerance value. This is useful for comparing measured and office entered data. For example, you can compare COGO point data entered from survey plans and plats to survey data collected on site to verify the accuracy.
To set up the Point Comparison Report:
- Select Report Options in the Quick Access Toolbar to display the Report Options command pane.
- Select Point Comparison Report in the list.
- Make Settings changes if necessary.
Of particular interest are the following settings:
- Horizontal/Vertical search - Optionally, change the default values to specify the horizontal and vertical distances between two points that determines whether or not the point pair is included in the report. Point pairs whose delta values do not exceed these values are included in the report.
- Horizontal/Vertical tolerance - Optionally, change the default values to specify the horizontal and vertical distances between two points that determines whether the delta distance is highlighted in red with the point pair in the report, providing a quick visual indicator of the point pairs that exceed the specified tolerance.
- Click to close the command pane.
To run the Point Comparison Report:
- Select the points or point-related objects for which you want to run the report. Or select nothing to include all points in the project
For example, use the Project Explorer or, if applicable, a graphic view to select points, observations, import files, COGO collections, certain CAD objects, and/or other object types that include related points you want to include in the report.
- To run the report, select Point Comparison Report.
The Point Comparison Report can also be run by selecting Reports > Report Options in the Quick Access Toolbar and double-clicking Point Comparison Report, via various right-click context menus (for example, right-click a COGO collection in the Project Explorer), and by clicking the Show Report icon in some command pane tool bars (for example, the Create COGO command pane).
The Point Comparison Report displays on a new tab.
The From Point column in the table includes each point in your selection that has a matching point (that is, a point that is within the delta tolerance distance specified for the report in Report Options). The To Point column includes each matching point, whether or not it is included in your selection. For example, if you select a COGO collection for the report, all of the points listed in the From Point column will be from the COGO collection. Points in the To Point column may or may not be from the COGO collection. If you select a random sampling of points, each point pair will display the lower of the two alphanumeric point IDs in the From Point column and the other point ID in the To Point column.
