Match Object Properties

Use the Match Properties command to match (copy) properties assigned to a selected object (for example, a CAD object or survey point) to one or more other objects of the same type.

To match object properties:

  1. Click in the Source object field and then select in the Project Explorer or a graphic view the source object whose properties you want to match (copy) to other objects.

    Properties applicable to the selected Source object are selected automatically in the Properties list.

  2. Review the selected properties in the Properties list and de-select any as necessary..

    If you are matching processed feature attributes (the Attributes check box is checked), you can click he Select target attributes button and de-select any of the specific attributes you do not want to match.

    Note the following when matching feature codes and attributes::

    If the target object...

    Results:

    Does not include a feature code.

    The source object feature code and selected attributes are copied to the target object.

    Includes a different feature code.

    The source object feature code and selected attributes replace the target object feature code and attributes.

    Includes the same feature code with different attributes.

    The selected source object attributes replace the corresponding target object attributes.

    Note: Only the feature code and attributes attached directly to the point are used for matching and selecting. Secondary features are ignored.

  3. Do either of the following to match selected properties from the source object to one or more selected target objects of the same type.
    • To select a single object for the match, click in the Target object field and then select the object in the Project Explorer or a graphic view. The match is performed immediately and the field is cleared, allowing you to make another selection if you want.
    • To select multiple objects for the match, click in the Multi-select target objects field and then select the objects in the Project Explorer or a graphic view. Click the Options button for additional selection options. After you make your selection, click Apply to perform the match. The match is performed and the field is cleared, allowing you to make another selection if you want.

      Note: You are allowed to select only objects that are the same type as the source object.

  4. When you are done, click Close to close the command pane. Or, right-click in the graphic view and select Close in the context menu.
