Create a Material Process in the Material and Site Improvement Manager
Create a material process in the Material and Site Improvement Manager if you want to add a processing site to your corridor mass haul analysis. Also see Understanding Material Processing Sites and Workflow for Processing Materials.
To create a material process:
- In the Materials and Site Improvement Manager, define the Earthen Materials you will need as Input and Output process materials, e.g., Rock > Gravel (if not already existing).
- In the Project Library, right-click the Material Processing node and select New Material Process.
- Type a name for the material process and press Enter.
- In the Material Process table, select the input and output materials.
Input Material: Select from a list of Earthen (Mass Earthworks) materials. Only usable material is used as the input for the material process.
Output Material: Select from a list of Earthen (Mass Earthworks) materials and Earthen (Select) materials). Define output materials as usable or unusable. In the Usable column, select Yes if the material is usable and No if the material is unusable. Warning flags will appear in the Corridor Mass Haul diagram if the unusable material created at a processing site is not disposed of at waste sites.
Note: A material selected as an input material cannot be selected again as another input material, or, as a usable output material. In the Outputs column, avoid duplicate materials with the same Usable setting.
- In the Volume Ratio columns, enter the relationship between the input and output volumes of different material used and produced in the material process. These volumes are used to form a set of ratios between input and output materials . The corridor mass haul analysis will determine how much of each input material is available and how much output material needs to be created.
Example: A rock crushing site takes in rock cut from the surface and crushes it into two earthen select materials; crushed rock (coarse) and crushed rock (fine). One cubic unit of rock, generates .5 cubic units of coarse crushed rock and .45 cubic units of fine crushed rock. In the Material Process table select the materials from the Material list and type the following in the volume columns:

Note: After you create a processing site in the Create Earthwork Sites command, you will need to add a material processing cost by editing the processing site.
Note: You can save a material process to an External Library or copy a material process from an External Library to your Project Library.
You can now create a material processing site that references the material process.
