Insert a Segment into a Linestring

Use the Insert Line Segment command to insert a new segment into a linestring, either along a selected segment or beyond the start or end point.

Prerequisites:

• Starter or Field Data license or higher license; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
• Linestring

To access the command:

• Select Insert Line Segment in Data Prep > Lines.

To add a new segment within a linestring:

1. Pick the linestring to which you want to add the new segment.
2. Type in or pick a Location along the linestring at which to add the new segment. If you typed in coordinates, click Insert.

   If you pick a location in space beyond either end of the linestring, a new segment is created. If you pick a location on an existing segment, a new node is added (thereby creating an additional segment).

3. Specify the Elevation for the segment.
4. Click Close.
