Run a Geometry Report
Generate a Geometry Report to see a simple listing of the geometry of linear objects (lines and alignments) in your project. For alignments, you can choose to report on key horizontal alignment (HAL) and/or vertical alignment (VAL) points, as well as and HAL/VAL control points, such as VPIs. You can also opt to report on alignment geometry at a specified station inteval (delta station).
Note: This report generates a Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet with a tab for each selected object. If you select many objects, it can take minutes for the report to appear.
To run an Geometry Report:
- Do one of the following:
- Select Geometry Report in Corridors > Reports.
- Select Geometry Report in the Command Pane > All Commands list.
- Select the lines and/or alignments to report on in the Objects box.
- Check the boxes for any of the options:
Note: If you have an alignment selected, one of these must be selected to report on its segments.
- Include HAL control/key points - Check this box to report on key HAL points., as well as HAL control points.
- Include VAL control/key points - Check this box to report on key VAL points, as well as VAL control points.
- Include delta station locations - Check this box to report at delta stations. Then in the Station interval box, enter a distance between stations you on which you want to report.
- Click Geometry Report displays in Excel. These values are shown:
- For selected alignments, these values can be reported: Station, Northing, Easting, H Type (line, arc, spiral. end), Bearing, Length, Radius, Delta, V Type (line parabola, VPI, low/high points, end), Elevation, Length, and Grade Start/End
- For selected lines, these values are reported: Station, Easting, Northing, H Type, Bearing, Deflection, Length, V Type, Radius, Delta, Elevation, and Grade Start/End
Tip: You can also change the abbreviations used for key horizontal and vertical alignment points in the Geometry Report. On the Quick Access toolbar, click the Project Settings icon. In the dialog, and click Abbreviations in the left pane. Edit any of the abbreviations in the right column and click . Rerun the report to see your changes.
