Combine Multiple Surfaces
Use the Combine Surfaces command to make a single surface from two or more separate, non-contiguous surface that do not overlap. While formed into one surface, no surface triangles are formed between the separate parts (previously independent surfaces).
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
Note: As a macro command, this will not be available/visible on the ribbon until it detects a valid license level. Once you have the software or hardware license installed, select Support > Set Ribbon Tabs > Reset to Defaults to refresh the ribbon.
- Two or more non-overlapping surfaces
To access the command:
- Select Combine Surfaces in Surface > Edit.
To combine surfaces:
- In the New surface name box, enter a unique identifier as you want it to appear in the View Filter Managerand other views.
- From the Source surfaces box, pick the separate surfaces in a graphic view or select them in the Project Explorer.
- Click OK. The combined surface is created.
- Confirm the new surface by hiding the source surfaces using the View Filter Manager (or deleting them if no longer needed).
Scenarios:
- The similar Merge Surfaces command creates a new surface from two coincident surfaces wherever they overlap; the data from the second surface specified replaces the data from the first surface.
Dependencies:
- None. Editing any of source surfaces has no effect on the combined surface.
