Select Feature Attributes for a User-Defined Attributes Label Type
Use the User Defined Attributes label type (see Create and Edit Label Styles) to specify any feature attributes you want to include in a label style. You can include not only feature attributes resulting from feature code processing in TBC, but also feature attributes imported along with points, lines, and/or polygons directly into the project.
Note: The Point Styles label style allows you, as an alternative, to add a Feature Codes Attribute label type, that, by default, includes all attributes in the label (but can be edited).
To select feature attributes to include in labels:
Notes:
- Before step 1 below, see Create and Edit Label Styles for complete instructions on creating label styles.
- You must process features codes in your project to enable feature code attribute values to display in your labels.
- The following instructions use point label style examples; however, these instructions also apply to line label styles and polygon label styles.
- In the Label Style Manager, select User Defined Attributes in the Label type drop-down list.
- Optionally, in the Label text field, enter an attribute prefix (for example the attribute name followed by an equal sign: Height=) followed by the attribute you want to include in the label, enclosed in curly brackets.
For example, Height={Height} would result in the "Height" attribute value being displayed in the label, preceded by its prefix.
- Optionally, when including multiple attributes, insert $$ to show where to break for each new attribute line in the label (otherwise, the attributes will appear on the same line).
- Click Add to see the preview.
Notes:
- The two attribute formatting check boxes that display in the Label Style Manager dialog and the Label Points/Lines/Polygons command pane do not apply to feature attributes specified for the User Defined Attributes label type.
- For assigned labels, the Label Properties pane displays feature attributes specified for the User Defined Attributes label, and it allows you to edit the Label text field as necessary and view the results in real-time.
