Workflow: Create CAD Tunnel Cross-Sections

Automatically generate either or both of the following:

  • 2D cross-section diagrams and tables created at specified tunnel intervals and displayed in the Plan View at the location you specify.
  • 3D linework and labels created and inserted at specified tunnel intervals in the 3D View.

The cross-sections help reduce the time required to create CAD-based deliverables from tunnel survey data, such as for construction verification and documentation of excavation, shotcrete, and final lining.

Following are the basic steps for this workflow. For more detailed instructions, see Create CAD Tunnel Cross-Sections and Create a Tunnel Inspection Map.

2.

Use the Create CAD Tunnel Cross-Sections command to create cross-section diagrams as follows:

  1. Select the inspection map you want to reference for the cross-sections.
  2. Select whether you want to create 2D cross-section diagrams or 3D linework and labels.
  3. Enter the range of stations you want to include and the station interval.
  4. If applicable, specify layout properties for 2D cross-section diagrams, and select or enter a coordinate that corresponds to the lower-left corner of the first diagram to be displayed in the Plan View.
  5. Select or create a layer for the cross-sections, and select a label text style.
  6. If applicable, select to include deviation lines and labels in cross-sections displayed in the 3D View.
