Export Penmap Project and Template Files (.pdt, .tzp, .ptz)

Use the Export command to export to the Trimble Penmap for Android application a Penmap PDT compressed file that contains all required project and template data, including template files, geometry data, measured GNSS points, and GIS data records.

Or, select to export only Penmap template data from TBC: either the template itself, or a compressed TZP or PTZ (older version) file containing all of the related template files.

Note: You can also use the Device Pane to connect to the Trimble Penmap for Android application to exchange data.

The Penmap exporter supports the following feature types (including attached attributes):

Note: TBC supports two attribute types designed to support Penmap workflows:

  • List-ValDesc enables you to export, for example, an associated attribute number when an attribute name is selected. This attribute type can be added currently in TBC only. Feature Definition Manager does not support adding this attribute type, but it does support changing it.
  • Relationship enables you to establish relationships between features (for example, a parent-child relationship). Relationship attributes come primarily from Penmap project templates. Note the following current limitations of the Relationship attribute type:
    • The collection of relationships and nonspatial data is possible in Penmap Android workflows only.
    • You cannot create new nonspatial features, set up new relationships, or change relationships in TBC.
    • Trimble Access cannot display nonspatial data and relationships at this time.
    • The new relationship attributes can be set only in TBC directly and are not supported in Feature Definition Manager at this time.
