Add and Edit a Job Site Design Model
Add a model to your job site design to make it available on assigned controllers. Models, which can be defined by a surface, an alignment, a surface and an alignment, or simply 3D linework, are used by crews in the field to perform grading, checks, and other operations, and by machines to perform excavation and grading operations.
To add or edit a job site design model:
- If you have just created a job site design, the Job Site Design Manager command pane is displayed. Otherwise, select Job Site Design Manager in Construction Data > Controllers.
The Select Job Site Design dialog displays.
- Select the design you want to edit, and click Create a Job Site Design. The Job Site Design Manager command pane displays. . If no designs exist, you will need to
- Click Model group. The Edit Job Site Design Model command pane displays. in the
- Select a model type, depending on what kind of data you have. The pane updates, indicating the types of data you need for the model.
- If you are creating a surface or road surface model, select the surface you want to use for the model in the Surface list.
- If you only want to use a portion of the surface, select the boundary you want to use to clip it in the Surface clipping boundary list.
- If you are creating a road surface or alignment model, check the boxes for one or more alignments in the Alignments box. For descriptions of the valid types of data, see Design Model Options.
Note: If you do not have the surface, boundary, or alignment in your project yet, you can create them by selecting New.
- If you are creating a 3D linework model, pick the 3D lines in a graphic view or the Project Explorer, or click for selection options.

- Click . The selected objects are added to the model.
- To remove excess objects, pick them or click .
- Click . The objects are removed from the model.

If you created a surface model, it is saved as a .ttm file for site controllers or an .svd file for machines in the data synchronization area.
If you created a road surface or alignment model, it is saved as a .pro file.
If you created a 3D linework model, it is saved as a .dxf file for controllers or an .svl file for machines.
