Add or Import External Job Site Design Data
Add external job site designs to your job site to make them part of your project. Then, you can edit and report on the data without affecting the files in the data synchronization area (assuming that you do not disable file overwrite protections. External designs are those that exist in the data synchronization area, but not your current project. Note: An external job site design can be added to a project regardless of the types of controllers to which it is assigned. However, if the external design is only assigned to data cards for GCS/AccuGrade machines, none of the data on the controllers can be imported. If it is assigned to SCS site controllers, the data on those controllers can be imported.
Note: An external design can be reassigned to other controllers with these restrictions: It can only be reassigned to another SCS site controller, if it is already assigned to one of that type. This logic applies to data cards for GCS/AccuGrade machines as well. To be assigned to another controller of this type, the external design must already be assigned to one.
Prerequisites:

- Job site design in your data synchronization area that is not part of your current project
To add an external job site design:
- Do one of the following:
- Right-click an external design in the Project Explorer, and select Add Job Site External Design from the context menu. The design is added to your site and project, and moves from External Designs to Designs in the Project Explorer (step 2 is not needed).

- Select Add External Job Site Design in Construction Data > Controllers.
The Add External Job Site Design dialog displays.
- Select an external design in the list and click . The design is added to your site and project, and moves from External Designs to Designs in the Project Explorer.
Note: When you import external job site design data, if you have conflicts between your project's data and the data on controllers, red dots will still appear on the resolve buttons in the Job Site Design Manager. You will be unable to resolve the conflicts with these settings enabled, but you will not be prevented from making changes to the data because it will not be exported to the data synchronization area and assigned controllers.
To delete an external job site design:
- Right-click an external design in the Project Explorer, and select Reassign External Job Site Design from the context menu. The Reassign External Job Site Design dialog displays.
- Uncheck the box for each controller.
- Click . A confirmation message displays.
- Click . The design is removed from the Project Explorer and the data synchronization area.
