Fields Options
Use these options to define the fields that you want to import, and their field order, and units. The options vary slightly based on the type of converter you are creating. They are available in the fourth dialog of the Import Format Editor.

Fields |
Click Fields to display a drop-down list of data properties. Select one and a tag appears as a field in the row of data. Continue to select all the fields that you want to import. Note: If you select the properties out of order, you can click and drag them into the proper order. |
New/Copy/Delete (Variable row type definitions only) |
These buttons display only if the Variable row type definitions check box was checked on the General Properties dialog. They allow you to create multiple row types in the definition, as well as copy and delete row types. For more information, see Import Level Data Using a Custom Importer. |
Units Apply to all |
To select the distance units for all data, select the units and enable the Apply to all check box. You can also disable the Apply to all check box, and select a unit for each exported field. |
Code (Variable row type definitions only) |
Enter a code that identifies the row type (for example, "L" for "Loop"). For more information, see Import Level Data Using a Custom Importer. |
Multiply on import (Level data only) |
Optionally, select the value by which the imported value will be multiplied to correctly position the decimal point. For more information, see Import Level Data Using a Custom Importer. |
Optional field delimiter (Variable row type definitions only) |
Optionally, use these controls to specify a unique field delimiter following the field. If you do not change the Default setting, the delimiter specified in the General Properties dialog is used. For more information, see Import Level Data Using a Custom Importer. |
Start/End/Width (Fixed Width only) |
Click on each field, and enter a Start and End value or a Start and Width value - the third value will be filled in automatically. |
Start/End (Search for Text only) |
Click on each field, and enter text values to search for the Start and End the field. Note: Spaces will not be visible in the Start and End fields, but you can see them in the Preview area. |
Next (Regular expression only) |
Click Next to display the dialog box for entering a regular expression. |
Test Enter file name Read file |
Click Test to open the testing display area. To test the current format on a specific file:
You can continue to modify the format setting and Read file the results until you are satisfied. |
