Clean Up Project Data
During data preparation, automatically clean up your project data by removing unneeded objects, converting some CAD lines into linestrings, joining lines, setting elevations on objects, and more. These optimizations can be done to selected objects or all of the objects in your project, but cleanup is most useful on imported CAD data.
Note: Only CAD lines that have been fixed (cleaned up) by the command are converted into linestrings. To convert multiple lines into linestrings at once, use the Elevate Lines command as a work around. See Elevate Lines by Text, Points, and Lines.
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- project data
To cleanup your project data:
- To cleanup only a portion of your data, select the objects in a graphic view, the Project Explorer, or the Selection Explorer. Alternately, you can use any of the selection methods available on the Selection menu. Otherwise, the cleanup will be performed on all of the objects in your project.
- Select Project Cleanup in Data Prep > CAD.
The Project Cleanup dialog displays.
- To clear the default settings, click the Clear button. To reset the defaults, click Defaults.
- Check the boxes for each of the actions you want to perform on your data. For details, see Project Cleanup Options.
- If you checked Remove zero length and fragment lines, specify the horizontal length of the shortest line that you want to keep in the Length tolerance box.
- If you checked Reduce line vertices, specify in the Offset tolerance box the horizontal distance that a node must deviate from the previous segment's tangent in order to be retained.
- If you checked the Set elevation outside range to zero box, specify the range within which you want to retain elevations in the Minimum and Maximum elevation boxes. Elevations below the minimum and above the maximum will be set to zero. If you do not know the elevation range of your data, click the Scan for Elevation Range button. The results appear in the minimum and maximum boxes.
- Specify whether you want to cleanup selected objects or all of your project data in the Objects to Process group.
- Click Apply to clean up your data based on the options you selected. The results appear in the Status box.
- Click Close.
