Import Road Data from Terramodel Project Files (.pro)
Although this importer can import lines and surfaces alone, it is primarily designed to import road job data from Trimble® Terramodel project files (.pro) as corridors. The importer assumes that your Terramodel project contains a road job, and will issue a warning if it does not. To import a file, follow the instructions in Import Data.
In the Import pane's Settings box, you can specify how you want the data to be imported:
- In the Cross-section interval box, enter the horizontal distance interval at which you want to extract cross-sections from the Terramodel road job. If extracted cross-sections are identical (within the tolerance specified below), the redundant ones are not imported. Imported cross-sections are used to create corridor templates.
- In the Tolerance box, enter the 3D (horizontal and vertical) distance tolerance for comparing the location of an extracted cross-section node in order to determine if it matched the location of that node as interpolated between existing templates. This process is called 'sampling'. If all of the cross-section nodes within a sampled cross-section fall within this tolerance (based on samples preceding and following it), that cross-section is not imported and a related corridor template is, therefore, not created.
- In the Surface list, select the road surface to import from the road job.
- Select the Design surface to import the uppermost surface from the road job.
- select Bottom subgrade to import the lower-most subgrade surface from the road job.
After import, the file appears under the Imported Files folder and the imported elements appear under Alignments, Corridors and Surfaces in the Project Explorer.
When you import .pro files, the data is handled in these ways:

Roads |
Road jobs are imported as corridors, defined by:
The road surface and centerline information is imported and can then be used in job site designs and exported to grade control systems (GCS). |
Linework |
Line data is imported as CAD lines and CAD polylines. |
Surfaces |
Terramodel surfaces are imported as surfaces. |
