Select Ribbon Tabs to Display
Use the Set Ribbon Tabs command to modify your ribbon by selecting one of several pre-defined layouts. Each layout gives you access to a different set of ribbon tabs to match your needs.
Prerequisites:
- None, although each layout may include one or more licensed features.
To access the command:
- Select Set Ribbon Tabs in Support > Customize.
Options:
- Current Ribbon Tab Layout - Select the layout that supports your workflow.
- Default - Show only tabs that include commands for which you are licensed. To see which feature sets are licensed, click License Manager at the bottom of the pane.
- Survey - Show the set of tabs that contains survey-related importers, commands, and exporters, as well as commonly-used commands.
- Construction - Show the set of tabs that contains civil engineering and construction-related importers, commands, and exporters, as well as commonly-used commands.
- All ribbon tabs - Show all tabs in the ribbon.
- Survey (custom) - This layout appears if you check or uncheck the box for any tab after loading the Survey tab layout.
- Construction (custom) - This layout appears if you check or uncheck the box for any tab after loading the Construction tab layout.
- Custom - This layout appears if you customize the ribbon by editing or importing a set of tabs using the Customize the Ribbon dialog (accessible by clicking Customize Ribbon at the bottom of the pane or right-clicking anywhere on the ribbon).
- Show only licensed tabs - When you have any layout other than Tabs with my licensed commands selected, check this box to hide the tabs that include unlicensed commands.
- Reset Defaults - Discard any customizationized layouts that you have made (by hiding/showing tabs in standard layouts), and reload the installed layouts.
- Customize Ribbon - Open the Options dialog where you can customize the ribbon and the Quick Access Toolbar.
- License Manager - Open the License Manager where you can view and manage license editions.
Licensing and Ribbon Tab Visibility
- If you never run the Set Ribbon Tabs command or if you have the ribbon layout set to Default, TBC will always show just the licensed tabs. This will show all licensed tabs and hide unlicensed tabs.
- If you have run the Set Ribbon Tabs command, it is not set to Default, and you change your license:
- If the license has additional modules, the relevant tabs will be shown at startup.
- If the license has fewer licensed modules, the relevant tabs will remain visible at startup.
- If you have created a custom tab or if you have deleted a standard tab, the layout will simply be called Custom and will be selected when you run the command. You can then pick other layouts, but when rerunning the command, Custom will be selected again because of the non-standard tabs.
