Current position information

If the controller is connected to a GNSS receiver, or you are using a controller with internal GPS, you can view or quickly store the current position of the receiver without having to start a survey. This is especially useful for storing waypoints so that you can easily return to locations of interest.

NOTE – When using a controller with internal GNSS, a connected GNSS receiver is always used in preference to the internal GNSS.

To view the current position of the receiver

  1. Tap the receiver icon in the status bar and select Position.

  2. To change the Coordinate view settings, tap Options.

  3. To view the position of the base antenna, tap Base.

In the Position screen:

  • The position is shown in the coordinates selected in the Coordinate view field.

  • If the antenna height is defined, the software calculates the position of the pole tip.

  • If a GNSS receiver with a built‑in tilt sensor is being used, the current tilt distance is shown.

NOTE – The Position screen does not apply the tilt correction to positions, therefore the position displayed is the uncorrected position.

  • If the connected GNSS receiver supports Trimble IonoGuard technology, the Iono activity level icon indicates the level of ionospheric activity detected and the method used to derive the IonoGuard information.

    • The color indicates the level of ionospheric activity detected : green means no or negligible activity, the next level is yellow, then orange, then red for high activity.

    • The shape shows how the IonoGuard information is being derived:

Circle: IonoGuard messages are being received from the base station or RTK network.

Square: IonoGuard messages are not being received from the base station and the rover is computing its own IonoGuard information.

Triangle: IonoGuard information is from RTX.

A question mark indicates the IonoGuard source is unknown.

A cross indicates the IonoGuard source is currently deemed invalid or IonoGuard is disabled.

To store the current receiver position

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Tap the receiver icon in the status bar and select Position. To store the position, tap Store. See Current position information.
    • When navigating to a location, in the Navigate to point screen tap Position.
    • Make sure no features are selected in the map and then tap and hold an empty space in the map and select Store a point.
  2. Make sure the value in the Antenna height field is correct.
  3. Tap Store.
