Limit box
The Limit box enables you to exclude parts of the map to view more clearly the area you are interested in. The Limit box is especially useful when viewing BIM models or point clouds, where you can exclude the outer parts of the model or point cloud so that you can view inside it.
To use the Limit box
-
Tap
on the Map toolbar and then select Limit box. The Limit box toolbar and sliders appear alongside the map.
-
If needed, zoom and orbit the map to more clearly view the data. Tap the Reset limits
button on the Limit box toolbar to refit the Limit box to the current view. If needed the Limit box is rotated so that the faces of the Limit box align with the map data shown.
TIP – To more precisely align the faces of the Limit box with map data, for example with the front facade of a model, enter a value in the Reference azimuth field of the Map settings screen. See Reference azimuth.
-
To fine-tune the extents of the Limit box, use the sliders or key in values.
-
Once you have fitted the Limit box to the objects of interest, leave the Limit box open while you use Trimble Access. The Limit box can be especially useful when performing functions such as Surface inspection, when measuring to a surface, or during staking out.
-
To stop using the Limit box, tap
on the map toolbar and then select Limit box.
The Limit box extents are retained the next time you open it. Repeat the steps above to change the extents.
To fine-tune Limit box extents using the sliders
- Tap the appropriate button on the Limit box toolbar:
- To set vertical limits for the top and bottom faces of the Limit box, tap
.
- To set horizontal limits for the left and right faces of the Limit box, tap
.
- To set horizontal limits for the front and back faces of the Limit box, tap
.
- To set vertical limits for the top and bottom faces of the Limit box, tap
-
Tap and drag the nodes on the slider up or down. The highlighted faces of the Limit box move accordingly.
The values on the Limit box slider show the extents of each slider, and the center of the map (vertical slider) or the width of the limit box (side and front/back sliders).
-
Repeat these steps to change the extents for each face.
-
To hide the slider and retain the set extents, tap the
,
or
button again.
To fine-tune Limit box extents by keying in values
- Tap and hold the appropriate button on the Limit box toolbar:
- To key in vertical limits for the top and bottom faces of the Limit box, tap and hold
. The Vertical limits pop-up window appears.
- To key in horizontal limits for the left and right faces of the Limit box, tap and hold
. The Side limits pop-up window appears.
- To key in horizontal limits for the front and back faces of the Limit box, tap and hold
. The Front limits pop-up window appears.
- To key in vertical limits for the top and bottom faces of the Limit box, tap and hold
-
Enter the required value in the appropriate value field.
TIP – If the Side limits or Front limits pop-up window does not show fields in which you can key in values, then the Limit box is currently rotated and is not aligned with the extents of the job. Either modify the horizontal limits using the sliders or refit the Limit box to the extents of the job to make the fields available. See Clearing limits and refitting the Limit box to the job extents.
-
To close the pop-up window and retain the set extents, tap X in the top right of the window.
-
To inspect 'slices' of a model, for example when viewing each floor of a building:
-
Tap and hold
to open the Vertical limits pop-up window.
-
Enter the Thickness value of the part of the building you want to view and then tap
to lock the Thickness value. -
To inspect the next 'slice' of the model, edit one of the other values (Top, Center or Bottom).
-
Clearing limits and refitting the Limit box to the job extents
Each time you open the Limit box, the extents are retained from the previous time you used it.
You can clear the current limits and refit the Limit box to the extents of the job at any time:
-
To reset the Limit box to the extents of the job, tap and hold the Reset limits
button on the Limit box toolbar. Alternatively, when keying in limit values, tap and hold any Limit box toolbar button and then tap Clear all limits in the pop-up window.
-
To clear some limits when keying in limit values, tap and hold the appropriate Limit box toolbar button and then tap the Clear limits button for the corresponding direction.
