To set up a scan station
If the instrument is a Trimble SX10 or SX12 scanning total station, you can set up the instrument on a point for which there are no known coordinates and create a scan station. When using a scan station, you can capture scans and panoramas only. The software automatically creates a virtual backsight, Backsightxxxx (where xxxx is a unique suffix, for example, Backsight0001), using the current instrument orientation as the azimuth. Scans captured at scan stations are shown at the center of the project area in the plan view of the map.
To perform scans along with normal survey measurements, you must set up the instrument on a known location and perform a standard station setup.
- Tap
and select Measure / <Style name> / Scan station.
-
Set the corrections associated with the instrument.
If the Corrections screen does not appear, tap Options and enter the correction information.
- Enter the Instrument point name.
-
Tap Next.
The Scanning screen appears, showing the Scan station number and the number of scans or panoramas captured at this station at the top of the screen.
-
Capture the scan or panorama as usual. See To scan using an SX10 or SX12 and To capture a panorama.
Only scans captured at the current scan station are shown in the Scanning or Panorama screen.
- If you move the instrument, in the Scanning or Panorama screen tap +Station to define the next scan station as required. To return to the Scanning or Panorama screen, tap Next.
