Adding form templates
Form templates are used to define the information you want to collect using TerraFlex. Typically, templates are set up to capture information about real-world objects or assets, or to capture information about locations that have been investigated or inspected.
To add form templates to the current workspace you can:
-
Create a new form template in the Map Viewer.
-
Add an existing form template to the workspace:
-
Duplicate an existing form template to use as the starting point for a new form, and then edit the template as required.
-
Link an existing form template so you can use the same form template in different workspaces.
-
Form templates published from Trimble Terra™ Office add-in for ArcMap or the TerraFlex add-in for ArcMap cannot be fully edited in the Map Viewer.
-
In the Map Viewer, click and then click the button below the Data list. From the Add group, select New template.
The Template editor appears.
-
Use each tab in the Template editor to build the template:
-
Use the Template tab to edit the template properties, including template name, geometry type, and accuracy-based logging settings.
-
Use the Fields tab to build the form by dragging and dropping different field types into your form template. You can arrange fields in groups or split the form into different pages.
-
Use the Rules tab to set up conditional behavior for enabling and disabling fields in your form template.
-
-
Click Save at any time to save the template as a draft template.
-
When you are ready to make the form available to field users, click Publish.
To link to an existing form template, or to create a new form template based on an existing template:
-
In the Map Viewer, click and then click the button below the Data list. From the Add group, select Existing template.
The Template library pane appears, listing all of the forms in any workspace in your project.
-
To filter the list of forms, enter part of the form name in the search field and press Enter.
-
Click the form or forms to add.
-
If you want to:
-
Add a copy of the selected form to the workspace so that you can then edit it as a separate form, select the Duplicate template check box.
-
Link the form templates so that changes you make to any instance of the form template flow through to all linked versions, clear the Duplicate template check box.
-
-
Click Use.
The form template is added to the Data list. Click Edit next to the template name to edit the template.
When you open a linked template in the Template editor, a message indicates the number of layers and workspaces that use the template.
-
In the Map Viewer Data list, click the Edit Template icon next to the map layer to edit the template.
The Template editor appears.
-
Use the Template, Field, and Rules tabs in the Template editor to edit the template.
-
Click Save at any time to save the changes as a draft.
-
When you are ready to make the form available to field users, click Publish. If the form has already been published, click Re-publish.
Once you have created the form you cannot change the name of the layer or the color used for features in the layer using the Template editor. To edit those properties, in the Map Viewer click the feature icon next to the layer name in the data list to open the Edit Style dialog. Edit the layer name and select a different color, if required.
