Working in the Map

Tap Map at the bottom of the screen to work in the Map.

Filtering data

When you are working from the Map screen, you can filter which forms are visible by status.

Tap then select or deselect the status options as required.

To quickly select all statuses, tap Select all.

To quickly deselect all statuses, tap Deselect all.

To return to the Map showing your filtered results, tap Displaying x result(s).

Data layers

You can control which data layers are visible on the Map from the Map layers screen.

To show or hide data layers:

  1. On the Map screen, tap , then tap Map layers.

  2. Select or deselect the data layers you want to see on the Map.

  3. Tap to return to the Map.

Downloading project forms

To see forms collected by other crew members on the Map, enable Sync all project forms. Those forms are not downloaded unless this setting is turned on. Project forms appear on the Map as context alongside your own work; they are not added to My Work or your task list.

To download project forms:

  1. On the Map screen, tap , then tap Map layers.

  2. Toggle on Sync all project forms.

  3. Sync your project to download forms collected by other users.

    1. Tap to return to the Map.

    2. Tap / Check for project updates.

      A syncing notification is displayed on the Home screen while project forms are downloaded. When the sync completes, tap Update map on the Map screen to show the latest project forms.

Forms you collect on your device are local forms. You can edit local forms after you save them. When Sync all project forms is enabled, forms collected on other devices and synchronized from Trimble Connect Map Viewer are project forms. Project forms are read-only and appear only on the Map, they are not listed in My Work.

NOTE – You can choose whether to show only your own work or all project data using the visibility toggle at the top of the map screen.

Enabling reference layers

To view existing assets or boundaries which provide context for field work, you can add reference layers to the Map. Reference layers are separate from data layers and project forms.

To enable reference layers:

  1. On the Map screen, tap, then tap Map layers.

  2. Toggle on Enable reference layers.

  3. Sync your project to download all the layers in Map workspace that do not have a form template associated with them.

    1. Tap to return to the Map.

    2. Tap / Check for Project updates.

      A syncing notification is displayed on the Home screen as forms are synced to the cloud, followed by a notification that reference layers are being dowloaded.

The reference layers are stored on your device so they are still available if you have no internet connection in the field, and are visible on the Map.

You can change the visibility of individual reference layers:

  1. On the Map screen, tap, then tap Map layers.

  2. In the list of Reference layers, select or deslect the layers that you want to see on the Map. To quickly select all layers, tap Select all; to quickly deselect all layers, tap Deselect all.

Working with Trimble maps

If you are working online you have the option to change your basemap to a Trimble-provided map. Trimble Map options are Street, Street (Light), Street (Dark), Terrain, and Satellite.

Working with a basemap

If you are working in a remote environment and are not able to connect to the internet, you can use a cached version of a map that has been created in Map Viewer.

To work with a cached map in TerraFlex:

  1. On the Map screen, tap, then tap Map layers.

  2. Tap Offline base maps. Any map caches are listed.

    Select the cached map you want to use, or tap Select all to quickly select all base maps, or Deselect all to quickly deselect all selected base maps.

  3. Tap to return to the Map.
