Configuring radio settings
To configure custom radio settings for GNSS receivers, external data radios, and optical instruments that are appropriate for the customer's country of operation, select the device in the Radio Config tab.
You can select either a Country of operation or a Standards-Based option so a device can be operated with defined parameters in compliance with legal requirements.
Setting country and custom radio settings are only required if the device is radio and/or Wi-Fi capable.
Add transmit and/or receive frequencies at the customer's request.
- Country and radio frequency settings are saved in the device’s license file and are not installed until you update the device using Trimble Installation Manager.
-
For GNSS receivers, make sure the appropriate configuration level and options are assigned. Some receiver models may need a dedicated part number to enable the UHF radio and Wi-Fi. If you configure country and radio settings for a receiver that does not have its radio or Wi-Fi options enabled, the settings configured in the Virtual Warehouse are ignored.
For most products you can define radio settings only if the product has a radio. However, for products such as the R8s, where it is possible to swap the radio module after the product has arrived at your organization, you can define radio settings for products that are shipped without a radio.

- Select Radio Config.
-
In the Platforms list on the Radio Config screen, select the device containing the radio you want to configure.
You can enter the serial number of the device you want to configure in the Search platforms field.
- Select either the Country of operation, or the Standards-Based option:
The Country list represents known regulatory requirements that the Trimble Global Compliance team has researched and regularly monitors for changes. Select a country when the user’s country of operation is in this list, or if they operate with the exact parameters as set for on the listed countries.
The Standards-Based option sets defined operational limits for Wi-Fi and UHF radios according to internationally recognized standards. Select one of the following options if the user’s country of operation is not in the Country list and if you know which standards are followed by the user’s country.
ETSI Standard (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), for countries that are legally allowed to operate radio configuration parameters similar to Europe (Germany).
FCC Standard (Federal Communications Commission), for countries that are legally allowed to operate radio configuration parameters similar to the United States.
If you are not sure which standards are in use, contact Trimble Support or your local regulatory agency.
