Configuring IPv6 settings

From firmware version 6.10, IPv6 support is available for web interface access, I/O streams, and other network services.

The web interface (default port 80) can initially be accessed by any of the following methods:

  • If DHCP is supported on a connected network, get the IPv4 address by scrolling down to Ethernet on the front panel main status page.

  • The IPv6 link-local address (“LLA”) can be used across a local LAN link from Windows browsers, but it is disabled in Linux. It is shown in the Ethernet IPv6 section of the front panel main status page. Any numeric IPv6 address is specified in square brackets in the browser URL, for example, http://[fe80::821f:12ff:fed3:91d6].

  • If a network router provides IPv6 prefix/address allocation services, other IPv6 addresses are shown under the Ethernet IPv6 section of the front panel status page.

  • Connect to the receiver's Wi-Fi access point and then access the web interface. See Setting up the Wi-Fi.

  • Configure an IPv4 address using the receiver front panel and then use a computer to access the web interface using that IPv4 address. See Setting up the ethernet using the front panel.

 

After you have accessed the web interface, do the following:

  1. Select Network Configuration / Summary. The Summary page displays the link-local and any other configured IPv6 addresses:

    When IPv6 address allocation services are supported by a network router, the gateway, prefix length, and any available DNS addresses are automatically configured. All configured IPv6 addresses are shown as follows:

    • The IPv6 link local address uses the fe80:: prefix.

    • If available, a DHCPv6 address will end in /128 indicating a 128-bit prefix.

    • If available, a SLAAC configured address shows a smaller prefix value.

    The receiver always creates an IPv6 link-local address allowing access from the same LAN segment. By default, the receiver configures a SLAAC (StateLess Address Auto Configuration) address and/or DHCPv6 address when those services are available on a network router.

  2. Select Network Configuration / Ethernet Pv6 to set automatic (DHCP) or fixed (Static IP) address allocation. For more information, see Ethernet IPv6 Configuration.
