Preconfigure Options for Importing Multiple File Versions
The following procedure explains how to preconfigure a DC (.dc), JOB (.job), JXL (.jxl), or NGS data sheet file importer to use the appropriate option for merging data when you import a different version of a file that has already been imported into the project (for example, you are importing data for the second day of a 2-day survey). If you do not preconfigure this option for an importer, the importer defaults to prompting you to select the appropriate data merge option on each import.
To pre-configure options for importing multiple file versions:
- Select Importto display the Import command pane.
- In the Import folder drop-down list, select a folder containing a DC, JOB, JXL, or NGS data sheet file, depending on which file type you want to configure.
- In the Select File(s) list, select a file representing the file type you want to configure.
- In the Settings > Versioned Files section of the Import pane, select the appropriate option in the Merge Options list.
See Import Multiple File Versions for a description of each of these options. You can also select the Ask me on import option to specify that the Specify Option dialog display at the time of import. This dialog allows you to choose the appropriate merge option at that time.
Your selection in the Merge Options list is saved immediately.
- Do one of the following:
- If you are done preconfiguring file importers to use the appropriate merge options and you do not want to import the selected file, click the Close button.
- If you want to preconfiguring merge options for additional file importers, repeat this procedure from step 2.
- If you want to import the selected file, click the Import button.
Once you have set these options, they will be in effect every time the system recognizes you are importing a different version of a DC, JOB, JXL, or NGS data sheet file that has already been imported into the project. You can change the options at any time by repeating this procedure.
