Edit Mass Haul Objects

Use the Mass Haul Editor command:

  • to quickly edit volumes and costs associated with mass haul import and export locations, earthwork sites, and haul roads.
  • as an analysis tool to view the mass haul objects that are available to be used in a corridor or site mass haul analysis.

Prerequisites:

To access the command:

For a corridor mass haul analysis, select the analysis under the corridor in the Project Explorer

For a site mass haul analysis, select the analysis, a haul range, haul road, or an earthworks site under Earthworks in the Project Explorer.

Then do one of the following:

  • Select Mass Haul Editor in Site Mass Haul > Analysis.
  • Right-click, and select Mass Haul Editor from the context menu.

The Mass Haul Editor appears on a new view tab, showing the available import and export locations, borrow sites, waste sites, processing sites and haul roads for the selected mass haul analysis.

To edit mass haul objects:

  1. Confirm that the mass haul analysis you selected is listed at the top of the editor. To view the mass haul objects for your entire project, select All in the Mass Haul Analysis list.
  2. Click the Mass Haul Cost Editor tab to edit the name, active setting, cost, volume, material types or material processes for earthworks sites, import or export sites and haul roads. For borrow sites, imports and exports where multiple material types can be entered, click Edit in the Materials column to edit material types, capacity and cost. For Processing sites, click Edit in the Materials column to edit the material processes at the site.

Note: Enter the volumes in the units defined in Project Settings.

Note: If you make an object inactive it will be removed from the list. Select All in the Mass Haul Analysis list to edit objects that are not connected to the analysis.

  3. Click the Haul Range tab to edit haul ranges for the corridor mass haul analysis.
  4. Refresh the mass haul analysis to view the effect of the changes made in the editor in the Mass Haul Diagram.

To use the Mass Haul Editor as an analysis tool:

A waste site you expected to be used in the analysis was not used. Use the Mass Haul Editor as an analysis tool to determine why the site was not used.

  1. Confirm that the mass haul analysis you selected is listed at the top of the editor.
  2. If the waste site is in the list, it was considered in the mass haul analysis but not used. Confirm that:
    • the cost of the waste site and the haul road are correct.
    • cheaper waste sites are not being used in preference
    • there is sufficient capacity at the site.
  3. If the waste site does not appear in the list, the object has not been considered in the mass haul analysis. Confirm that:
    • the waste site is active.
    • the distance between the waste site and the end of the haul road is within the Site Connection Tolerance set in Project Settings.
    • the network of haul roads to the waste site connect within the Haul Road Connection Tolerance set in Project Settings.
    • haul roads to the waste site run in the correct direction. (This is only important if Bidirectional is set to No in the properties of the haul road.)
    • the haul road connecting the waste site to the corridor touches or crosses the corridor.
