Import Point Cloud Files (.e57, .fls, .las, .laz, .pts, .ptx, .tdx, .tzf, .xyz, .yxz)

Import point cloud data in any of the following file formats:

Notes:

  • All imported points with an assigned ASPRS (American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) classification code are added into a new or existing point cloud region with the same name (for example, "Classification 6"). If an imported point has never been classified (classification code "0"), it is added to the Never Classified point cloud region.
  • When you import point cloud data contained in a .pts file, be sure to use the Import command pane instead of drag-and-drop to perform the import. Then, right-click the .pts file in the Selected Files list and select Set File Type > Point Cloud File before clicking the Import button. Otherwise, the point cloud data will import as a surface instead of a point cloud.
  • When you import point cloud scans that have the same name (as you might receive from the Trimble Perspective software, Trimble SX10, or Trimble TX8), TBC automatically appends the name with a parenthetical suffix that includes the object type ("Y" for scans) and a number, resulting in a unique, easy to find scan name in TBC.
