Convert CAD Points to Points
When you select points to add to your job site design data as stakeout points, any CAD points you have selected must be converted to points to be included.
To convert CAD points to points:
- Uncheck the Delete CAD points when done box if you want to retain both the CAD and points at the same location after the conversion. Otherwise, only the new points will remain.
Note: Checking this box is recommended to prevent creating duplicate points at the same location by selecting the CAD points again in the future.
- Select a quality for the new points in the Point quality list.
- Control - Select this for National Geodetic Survey (NGS) surveyed coordinates of the highest quality.
- Survey - Select this for surveyed coordinates of the second highest quality.
- Mapping - Select this for coordinates of the low to average quality.
- Unknown - Select this for coordinates of the lowest or unverified quality.
- Type a feature code for the points if they will be used in feature code processing.
- Type a name to use as the base name and starting point for all of the new point IDs.
Note: By default, the name of your design is used as the starting point ID. The new point IDs will be numbered and increment upwards. If the starting point ID includes a number, the new points will increment upwards from that number.
For example, if the name of your site is "Landfill", and you are converting five CAD points, the new survey points will be named Landfill1, Landfill2...Landfill5. If you change the starting point ID to "Converted point 210", the five new survey points will be Converted point 211, Converted point 212...Converted point 215. If any of the incremented names already exists, they will be skipped, and the naming will start again at the next available increment.
Note: Certain characters are invalid in point IDs: / \ : * ? < > | ; , ~ ' ` " $ [ ] { } ^ ( )
When points are imported, these characters are replaced by an underscore in the point ID. It you type one of these characters in a point ID, it will not be accepted, and the program will beep. - Click Point Spreadsheet. to convert the points, or click to ignore the selected CAD points and only add the selected survey points as stakeout points. The CAD points are converted to points and added to your stakeout points. Unlike CAD points, the new points can now also appear in the
