Reuse a Corridor Template
Save a corridor template as an XML file so that you or a colleague can reuse it by importing it into another project, thereby speeding up your design work.
Prerequisites:
- Licensed module; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Corridor template
To save and reuse a corridor template:
- When you have a complete template (you are done adding/editing instructions) in the Corridor Template View, click Options below the instructions pane.
- Select Save Template as XML.
- Browse to a file location, specify a file name, and click Save.
Tip: You may want to save all of your reusable corridor templates in a network location so you can share them with colleagues.
- Open the project in which you want to reuse the corridor template.
- Open the Insert Corridor Template command, and specify the station at which you want to reuse the previously saved template.
- Select From file definition in the Options list.
- Name the reused template and browse to the .xml file.
- Click Insert.
Scenarios:
- If the corridor template you saved references lines or a surface, those references will be empty when you re-insert the template in a different corridor, so you will need to specify which new objects to reference. Typically, you should not save templates that reference other objects.
For example, if the saved template you reuse was originally tied to a surface called "original ground survey" that doesn't exist in your current project, the ties will not be created because they do not have a surface to tie to. Instead, an empty surface with the name "original ground survey" will be created for you, but it will be empty and ready for you to add surface members to make it a valid surface.
Dependencies:
- None; saved templates retain no connections to their previously referenced corridors nor reference lines or surfaces; they simply contain reusable instructions.
