Create Corridor Templates
After you have created a corridor as described in Create Corridors, you can create and insert one or more cross-section templates into it. These templates include instructions that define the cross-sections required to build the corridor (for example, the various offsets and slopes for a road).
Each cross-section template you insert defines the corridor from the station where it is inserted until the station where the next template is inserted, or the end of the corridor.
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Corridor
To create and insert a corridor template:
- Display the Insert Corridor Template command pane using one of the following methods, as appropriate:
- Select Insert Corridor Template in Corridors > Corridor.
- In Project Explorer, right-click the corridor into which you want to insert a template and select Insert Corridor Template in the context menu.
- In Plan View or 3D View, left-click to select the corridor into which you want to insert a template, then right-click and select Insert Corridor Template in the context menu.
- If necessary, in the Corridor drop-down list select the corridor into which you want to insert the template.
- In the Begin station field, specify the station ID where you want the template to be inserted by doing one of the following:
- Type in the station ID.
- Click in the field and then select the station in the Plan View. Optionally, right-click in the view and select one of the additional options for selecting the station.
- In the Options drop-down list, select the appropriate option for the template:
- New definition - Select this option to insert a new template for which you will specify instructions. Optionally, enter a name for the new template in the Template name field. If you do not enter a template name, the template is referred to in the software by its beginning station ID.
- Copy definition - Select this option to insert a copy of an existing template. Optionally, enter a name for the new template in the Template name field. If you do not enter a template name, the template is referred to in the software by its beginning station ID. Next, select the template you want to copy in the Copy from template list.
Note: Corridor templates that were copied from other templates or that reference other templates are indicated by a distinct icon
in the Project Explorer.
If necessary, you can edit the instructions for the new template without affecting the template from which it was copied.
- Reference definition - Select this option to insert a new instance of an existing template. Select the template you want to reference in the Reference template list.
Any changes that are made to the original version of this template, or to any of its referenced instances, are made to the template for all instances.
- From file definition - See Reuse a Corridor Template.
- In the Template name field, type a name for the new template.
- Click the Insert button. The new template is inserted into the corridor at the specified station, and it displays as a new object beneath the corridor in the Project Explorer.
The Edit Corridor Template command pane displays, allowing you to create instructions for the new template. For additional information, see Create Corridor Template Instructions.
The new corridor template defaults to layer 0 in your project. It also defaults to using the sampling distance specified in the Project Settings. To change these options, right-click the new template in the Project Explorer and select Properties. Then make your changes in the Properties pane.
