Edit and Delete Corridor Template Instructions

Warning: If you see this error message, "Area calculations may be incorrect.", in the graphic view of a corridor template, read this help topic: Calculation Warning in the Corridor Template View.
Note: Because of the interdependent nature of template nodes, the instructions used to create the nodes must be in the correct sequence in the Instruction list. For example, you must add a node to the template before you can add another node that references that node for its location. The software builds the template step-by-step based on the sequence of the instructions.

Prerequisites:

To edit an existing template instruction:

  1. Do one of the following to display the Edit Corridor Template command pane for the template containing the instructions you want to edit:
    • Right-click the template in the Project Explorer and select Edit in the context menu.
    • Select the template in Plan View or 3D View, then right click and select Edit in the context menu.
  2. In the Instructions list, select the instruction you want to edit. Properties for the selected instruction display.

Note: if you have just added a new instruction to the template and you now want to edit an existing instruction, you can double-click the existing instruction to display its properties in edit mode.

  3. Make changes to the instruction properties as necessary. See the appropriate "create instruction" topic for more information:
  4. Optionally, click and drag the instruction to a new location in the Instruction list.

Note: Because of the interdependent nature of template nodes, you may not be able to move some instructions in your list.
Note: When you have finished creating or editing a corridor, it is critical that you investigate its integrity and accuracy. Use the slider at the bottom of the Corridor Template View to move slowly along the entire length of the corridor, reviewing the cross-sections created by template instructions at each station.

  5. When you are done, click the Save button.

To delete an existing template instruction:

  1. Do one of the following to display the Edit Corridor Template command pane for the template containing the instructions you want to delete:
    • Right-click the template in the Project Explorer and select Edit in the context menu.
    • Select the template in Plan View or 3D View, then right click and select Edit in the context menu.
  2. In the Instructions list, right-click the instruction you want to delete and select Delete.
  3. When you are done, click the Save button.

Note: When you delete an instruction that creates a node on which one or more subsequent nodes are dependent (for example, a subsequent node is offset from the node you want to delete), the dependent instructions remain in the list. However, they are renumbered and are displayed with a strikethrough. This allows you to edit the dependent instructions or add new nodes to the template that will make the dependent instructions valid.

View options

When you are building a corridor template, you have several options on how information is displayed in the view:

  • Hide instruction list - Select this to hide/show the list of instructions within the corridor template view.
  • Step-by-step mode - Select this to restrict the graphic template view to the currently selected instruction and those preceding it. This view can help you identify problematic instructions when you are fixing a corridor template. Enabling this option disables the Show shaded materials option below.
  • Showing: <...> - Use this to filter the view so it shows only the instructions for a specific corridor material layer.
  • Show node labels - Select this to show/hide any abbreviations you added for template nodes using the Manage Template Node Names command.
  • Show shaded materials - Select this to show/hide shading for the material levels (courses) shown in the graphic template view. Disabling this option also disables the Use opaque shading option below.
  • Use opaque shading - Select this to switch the material shading described above from transparent to opaque.
  • Settings - Select this to access the Corridor Template View settings in the Project Settings dialog. For instance, you can show/hide slope values (in % or ratio) for the active instruction in a corridor template.
  • Save template as XML - See Reuse a Corridor Template.
