Densify a Surface
Densify a surface to create a finer mesh of triangles in areas where changes in the surface's shape were previously represented by the Remove diagonal and Adjust for arc/chord properties. The intent in densifying a surface is to create a surface object for export to field controllers and machines that accurately reflects the surface you see in this office software. When you prepare data to export to the field, you should densify the surfaces and road surfaces to assure that they achieve suitable and similar accuracy and precision in both SCS900 and GCS900.
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Alignment-based surface
To densify a surface:
- Do one of the following:
- Double-click the surface in the Project Explorer.
- Right-click the surface in a view or spreadsheet, and select Properties.
The Properties pane displays the surface's properties.
- In the Surface group, ensure that an alignment that coincides with the surface is selected in the Horizontal alignment box.
- In the Densification group, review and set the other settings as needed before you set Densification surface to Yes.
Note: If the Horizontal alignment property is set to None, the Density group is disabled.
Note: if you do not specify a Begin station and End station, the entire surface will be densified. - Set Densify surface to Yes.
- Click Close.
Tip: For an uncompacted PCS surface to be densified, the underlying surface and the design surface must be individually densified before the uncompacted PCS surface is created. The uncompacted surface is then densified by default since it is dependent data.
