Prerequisites:

To access the command:

To create a pipe network:

  1. In the Utility network name box, type a unique identifier as you want it to appear in the Project Explorer and Selection Explorer. You can also use the name to select the network in the Advanced Select command.
  2. Select a Type for the network.
    • Gravity - Select this to create a sanitary sewer, storm sewer, or other non-pressurized system that relies on gravity to move liquids.
    • Pressurized - Select this to create a water, gas, or other system that relies on pressure to move gas or liquid.
    • Cable - Select this to create an electrical, telecommunications, cable tv or other system of cables (which may be inside conduit pipes).
  3. Select the layer on which you want the network to reside in the Default layer list, or select <<New Layer>> to create a new layer for the network. This is the layer that trench linework will be placed on.
  4. Click OK. The network appears in the Utility Network group in the Project Explorer.

Tip: You may find it helpful to expand the Utility Networks group in the Project Explorer so you can see the various utility-related objects appear in the hierarchy as you create them.
