Workflow for Importing Keyed-In Level Data

Use the following steps as a guideline for manually keying in level data:

  1. Select Level Editor in Survey > Optical to display the Create New Run dialog.
    • If level data has previously been imported into the project, the Select Leveling Files dialog displays. Select Keyed-In File in the list to display the Create New Run dialog.
    • If level data has not previously been imported into the project, the Create New Run dialog displays.
  2. In the Create New Run dialog, select the number of setups in the run and the survey style used to measure backsights and foresights (for example, Backsight/Foresight).

Each station setup in the run will be pre-populated with the selected number of measurements in the selected order.

  3. In the Level Editor dialog, which displays with the specified number of station setups, edit point IDs as necessary and then enter measurements (rod readings) and benchmark data.
  4. Optionally, do any of the following:
    • Add side shots to any setups.
    • Add additional setups to the selected run, or delete setups from the run.
    • Add additional runs.
    • Change the default standard error to use for adjustments.
    • Enter field notes or feature codes.
    • Select whether to allow a network adjustment of the leveling data (all elevations of interest are imported as delta elevations) or not allow a network adjustment (all elevations of interest are imported as control coordinates).
    • Split and merge runs.
    • Adjust runs.
  5. After level data is imported into your project, view the points computed from it in the Project Explorer and graphic (if the points include x and y coordinates) and spreadsheet views. Also, view information about imported level data, including raw observations, reduced observations, and reduced coordinates, in the Level Report.
