Create Label Leader Lines

Use the Create Leader Lines command to move a label and simultaneously create a leader line to "connect" it to its associated object.

Prerequisites:

To create leader lines for labels:

  1. Select Leader Line to display the Create Leader Lines command pane.
  2. In the Leader type drop-down list, select an appropriate style for the leader line.
  3. Optionally, check the Display label horizontally check box to align the label horizontally in the graphic view.
  4. Click in the Target label field. Then click the label in a graphic view, move the label to the desired location, and click the mouse a second time.

Optionally, type a coordinate in the Label insertion point field.

  5. Repeat this procedure as necessary to move and create leader lines for other labels.

To delete an existing leader line, select it in a graphic view, right-click, and select Delete. The label will return to its original position.

  6. When you are done, click Close, or click Apply to create additional leader lines.

These commands are available in the command pane and by right-clicking in the graphic view.

Note: You can edit the appearance of a selected leader line in the Properties pane. To edit the position (top, middle, or bottom) of the leader line's connection to the point label, line label, or polygon label, see properties for those object labels.
