Move Survey Points

Use the Move Survey Points command to graphically add an office-entered coordinate to move a survey point to a new location. This will keep your original survey observations intact and provide traceability of your survey while allowing you to change grid position of the surveyed point. Your feature coding and linework will be updated accordingly.

Prerequisites:

  • survey point

To move a survey point:

  1. Select Move Survey Point in Survey > COGO to display the Move Survey Point command pane. Then click in the Point ID field and select in a graphic view the survey point you want to move.

Optionally, select the survey point you want to move first, right-click, and select Move Survey Point.

  2. Click in the To field and then, in a graphic view, select the location where you want to move the point. (Or, type the coordinates in the field.)

Optionally, right-click to use any of the available snap commands when making your selection.)

The computed elevation for the select point is displayed in the Elevation field.

  3. Optionally, enter a new elevation in the Elevation field.

The results of the move are displayed in the Results field.

  4. Click OK.

The new office-entered coordinate is added to the point and the project is recomputed. Because office-entered coordinates take precedence over other types of coordinates, the survey point moves to the new location. In addition, the point name is appended with (MOVED). For example a point named 200, would be renamed 200(MOVED). Note that there is a likelihood that the new location is out of tolerance of the original measurement. In this case, an out-of-tolerance flag is displayed.

To view properties for the moved survey point or the new office-entered coordinate, right-click the appropriate node in the Project Explorer and select Properties. To see how the point's position was affected by the office-entered coordinate, right-click its node in the Project Explorer and select Point Derivation Report.

Note: If a feature code is assigned to the point, be sure to verify that all feature-related lines or symbols display correctly. If they do not, reprocess the feature codes.
