Copy Objects to Profile View
Use the Copy to Profile command to copy objects from the Plan View to the Profile View. The objects x-coordinates are plotted directly on the X-axis (station) in the Profile View. The objects y-coordinates have the vertical exaggeration setting applied and are then plotted on the Y- axis (elevation) in the Profile View. If you leave the objects in the Plan View, any edits you make to them do not affect the copies in the Profile View.
Example:
An alignment begins at station 10+00m, and at an elevation of 200m. A wall is to be constructed alongside the alignment. You want to use the Profile View to view the profile of the wall alongside the vertical alignment and the ground profile. Before using the copy to profile command, ensure the following in the Plan View:
- The walls starting x-coordinate is in the vicinity of 1000m. (This is the start station value, not the actual x-coordinate in the projects coordinate system).
- The walls starting y-coordinate is in the vicinity of 200m. (This is the start elevation value, not the actual y-coordinate in the projects coordinate system).
Note: Place linework that is related to the profile view on a separate layer in the Plan View. You can then turn off this layer when viewing data that is in the projects coordinate system.
Prerequisites:
- Licensed module; See Licensed Features to determine if your license supports this feature.
- Objects in the Plan view with coordinates that can be plotted on the Profile views x and y axis. (See example above).
To access the command:
- Select Copy to Profile in Corridors > Corridor.
To copy objects to a profile view:
- Open a plan view that shows the objects you want to move.
- Open a profile view where you want to place the copied objects.
- From the Plan view, select the objects that you want to copy. In the Copy to Profile pane the Objects to copy box shows the number or objects selected.
- From the Profile view list, select the profile view where you want to copy the objects.
- Click Apply. The copied objects appear in the Profile view. The Profile Views vertical exaggeration is applied to the Y value of the copied objects.
Notes:
- If a selected object cannot be copied to the profile view a red arrow appears in the Objects to Copy box.
- Depending on the original data, it may be necessary to move the copied objects so the objects appear correctly in the Profile View.
- If the original data had a vertical exaggeration applied, scale the object to remove the effect of this exaggeration.
- Due to vertical exaggeration, circular objects may not be drawn circular.
