Select Point Cloud Data Using a Boundary

Use the Point Cloud by Boundary command to select point cloud data within an existing 'boundary' rather than by clicking points to specify the boundary (as is needed in Select by Boundary).

Prerequisites:

  • Point cloud
  • Closed line (CAD line, linestring, polyline, polygon, or boundary)
  • Survey Advanced or higher license; See Licensed Features to determine if your license supports this feature.

To access the command:

To select a point cloud using a boundary:

  1. From the Boundary box pick any closed line; this can be done regardless of which selection mode (polygon or rectangular) is enabled.
  2. From the Point cloud region box, select an existing region to add the points to or create a new point cloud region. By default, you can pick from visible regions, but you can also select specific regions.

Dependencies:

  • None. If you modify the selected boundary after using the command, the selected point cloud data in not affected. I.e., if the boundary changes, the selected points are not automatically included. You will need to run the command again to include them.
