Create a Polyline Using the CAD Command Line

Use the Create Polyline command alias on the CAD Command Line to create a multi-segment line at a constant elevation by picking each segment's start and end points.

Note: The pane-based versions of the CAD Command Line commands may have additional options not offered on the CAD Command Line, e.g., the option to 'stream' points, is only available in the pane-based Create Polyline command.
Note: Using Undo can only undo polyline segments back to the last other command on the stack that interrupted the polyline.

Prerequisites:

To create a polyline from the CAD Command Line:

  1. Press [F3] or click thei_command line icon on the Status Bar to open the CAD Command Line.
  2. Type pl or PL at the command prompt, and press [Enter].
  3. If needed, set the Layer, Color, and/or Line style below the command prompt. These properties persist the next time you run the command.
  4. For the start point, enter a coordinate, or pick a point in a supported view (Plan, Sheet, or Cutting Plane). You can also use snaps in the Cutting Plane View.
  5. Enter a second coordinate using any of the methods listed above.
  6. If needed, enter additional points and type C (for the Close line keyword shortcut), and press [Enter] to close the polyline by connecting the final point to the first point.
  7. If needed, continue entering points to create segments, or press [Escape] to end the command and return to a blank command prompt.
  8. Press [Spacebar] to rerun the command.
