Workflow: Extract Mobile Mapping Scan Data

Import mobile mapping data (.mxdb) that was captured with a Trimble MX9 mobile laser system in order to extract the scan data (point clouds) from it.

Open a project or start a new project.

Use the Project Settings dialog (select Coordinate System in the left navigation pane) to verify that your project is configured with the correct coordinate system for the mobile mapping data to import.

If necessary, change the coordinate system.

Use the Import pane to import the mobile mapping data (.mxdb) file and its associated trajectory file (Nav or Sbet).

Use the Generate Scans command to extract scan data from raw data.

  • Select either the complete mission or only a run to process.
  • Choose a filtering configuration (Default, Rail and Power Lines) or customize the filtering values.
  • Choose whether to apply MTA correction.
  • Choose whether to colorize the scan data to be extracted.
