Modify and Remove Selection Sets
You can add and remove objects to and from existing selection sets. You can also remove selection sets from your project (without removing selection set member objects) when they are no longer needed.
Note: Use Ctrl + click and to multi-select in any Selection Explorer list.
To add objects to existing selection sets:
- Select Selection Explorer in Home > Selection.
- In the Selection Sets list, select <Selection Snapshot>.
If there are objects already displayed in the Selection Palette <Selection Snapshot> list that you do not want to add to selection sets, select them and click the Subtract objects from the Selection Palette icon in the Selection Palette toolbar.
- In the Project Explorer or a graphic view, select one or more objects that you want to add.
The selected objects are displayed in the Selection Palette <Selection Snapshot> list.
- Click the Add the selection to selection sets icon in the Selection Sets toolbar
- In the Add To dialog, select one or more selection sets to which you want to add the selected objects as members, and click OK.
The selected objects are displayed in the Selection Palette list for each of the selection sets to which they were added. In addition, the selection sets display in the Selection sets field in the Properties pane for each of the objects.
Note: When working with point, scan, scan station, scan observation, and media file objects, you can also add one or more objects to one or more selection sets by displaying the Properties pane for the object(s) and checking the check box for the selection set(s) in the Selection set drop-down list. (Other object types do not allow selection set edits in the Properties pane.)
To remove objects from existing selection sets:
- Select Selection Explorer in Home > Selection.
- In the Selection Sets list, select one ore more selection sets from which you want to remove objects.
Objects that are members of the selected selection sets are displayed in the Selection Palette list.
- In the Selection Palette list, select one or more objects you want to remove from the selected selection sets.
- In the Selection Explorer tool bar, click the Subtract the selection from icon.
- In the Subtract From dialog, select one or more selection sets from which you want to remove the object(s), and click OK.
The removed objects are no longer displayed in the Selection Palette list for the selection sets from which they were removed. In addition, the removed selection sets no longer display in the Selection sets field in the Properties pane for each of the objects.
Note: When working with point, scan, scan station, scan observation, and media file objects, you can also remove one or more objects from one or more selection sets by displaying the Properties pane for the object(s) and unchecking the check box for the selection set(s) in the Selection set drop-down list. (Other object types do not allow selection set edits in the Properties pane.)
To remove selection sets from the project (without removing selection set member objects):
- Select Selection Explorer in Home > Selection.
- In the Selection Sets list, select one or more selection sets you want to remove from the project (without removing the selection set members from the project).
- In the Selection Sets tool bar, click the Remove selection sets without deleting contained objects icon.
The removed selection sets no longer display in the Selection Sets list in the Selection Explorer and View Filter Manager or in the Properties pane for each of the affected objects.
