Default Standard Errors Settings
A standard measurement error or setup error is a statistical estimate of error, according to which 68 percent of an infinite number of observations will theoretically have absolute errors less than or equal to this value. The Default Standard Errors section in the Project Settings dialog allow you to do the following:
- Specify whether to use the actual standard error values contained in the imported file or the default standard error values contained in the Project Settings dialog.
- Specify the default standard error values to use if the source is the Project Settings dialog.
If you specify to use standard error values contained in the imported file and the file does not contain these values, the default values specified in the Project Settings dialog are used.
Note: Standard error values for an instrument are typically published by the instrument manufacturer.
To specify default standard error settings:
- Select Project Settings in the Quick Access Toolbar.
The Project Settings dialog displays.
- Select Default Standard Errorsin the left pane.
- Click each section and view or select appropriate options. See the informational text displayed in the lower portion of the dialog for each option you select.
- When you are done, click OK.
