Import Coordinate System Files (.cfg)
Add a new coordinate system to those available in your coordinate system database by importing a coordinate system configuration file (.cfg). On import, you can also choose to use the coordinate system as your project's system. If your project does not have a coordinate system defined, the imported system is automatically used. The imported .cfg file is also saved locally in:
C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\Trimble Business Center\<project name>
When they are associated with a machine they are copied into:
C:\Trimble Synchronizer Data\<machine name>\Machine Control Data\
While the coordinate system in the configuration file is based on your project settings, other settings in the file are generic; any custom settings present in imported configuration files are not kept in the new configuration file created in the machine controller folder of the data synchronization area. See Import GCS Measure-Up and Display Files (.mch, .dsp, .persist) and Import PCS Display Configuration Files (.persist).
When a geoid exists in the coordinate system, the original coordinate system (including the original geoid name), is included in the configuration file when exported to a machine. This is the case for both the optional estimated incline plane representing a geoid and embedded geoid sub-grid. See Controller Manager Options for details. When the configuration file is re-imported into this software, the geoid file reference is read and the original coordinate system is extracted.
Unsupported Coordinate Systems
A coordinate system cannot be imported when it contains one or more of the following unsupported features as part of its definition:
- An unsupported projection
- A datum grid file
- A shift grid file
- A system with grid coordinates that do not increase north and east or south and west
In particular, these coordinate systems are not supported:
- Krovak
- Danish Jutland
- Danish Zeeland
- Danish Bornholm
- Hungarian EOV
- United Kingdom National Grid
- Any coordinate system that uses a Projection Grid File
These projections are only supported on MS8xx receivers and MS9xx receivers running updated firmware:
- Albers Equal Area Conic Projection
- Oblique Conformal Cylindrical
- Stereographic Double Projection
