Most apps receive position data from the GNSS receiver connected to Trimble Mobile Manager in the same way they receive a position from the integrated receiver in the device. Alternatively, some apps receive position data from a WebSocket connection via Trimble Mobile Manager.
To use Trimble Mobile Manager with another app running on your iOS or Android device:
-
If you are connecting to a Trimble Catalyst receiver, you will be prompted to sign in using your Trimble Identity.
You must sign in so that the Trimble Mobile Manager software can obtain your Catalyst subscription details and calculate positions to the accuracy level expected for your subscription.
-
Once connected, configure the receiver.
Depending on the connected receiver, you may need to install hardware options, update firmware, or calibrate the tilt sensors in the receiver.
-
Configure the antenna height in your app. If you cannot configure the antenna height in your app, you can specify it in Trimble Mobile Manager by enabling the Apply antenna height’ option in the Configuration tab.
Do not enter the antenna height in Trimble Mobile Manager and in your workflow app.
-
If required, configure real-time correction and position data settings.
Depending on your data requirements, you can configure a custom real-time correction source to an NTRIP server, output positions in the reference frame of your choice and set the distance units displayed in the app.
-
For Android devices, the Mock location provider must be set to use Trimble Mobile Manager to make position data from Trimble Mobile Manager available to the device operating system.
This step is required if you want to use positions from Trimble Mobile Manager in apps such as Google Maps or other apps that use locations from the operating system that may not be part of your main workflow. This step is also required if you are using Esri ArcGIS QuickCapture or ArcGIS QuickSurvey 123 on an Android device.
On iOS devices, location data is shared directly from the receiver to the operating system, although there are some limitations. For more information, see Location sharing with other apps.
-
Use the Home screen in Trimble Mobile Manager to view system status information and to check the accuracy of the position data from the receiver.
For iOS devices, the iOS operating system always reports the position accuracy no better than 5 meters. The Home screen in Trimble Mobile Manager shows the actual accuracy of the position data.
