Completing a task assigned from Trimble Connect

If an existing form needs updating, it can be assigned from Trimble Connect Map Viewer as a ToDo; it appears in TerraFlex as a Task. When the task is open in TerraFlex, the forms that need updating appear in the Forms list, with a status of TO UPDATE. You can update the original form(s), and collect new forms if required; any additional forms you collect while a task is open will become part of the task.

To open and collect / update data within a task assigned from Map Viewer:

  1. Select the project that has the assigned task.

  2. Do either of the following:

    • On the Home screen, tap the Project name or Task name in the My work tile to open the Tasks screen.

    • At the bottom of the screen, tap Tasks.

  3. Tap Task (x) to collect to a task rather than the project.

    The Tasks screen shows all tasks associated with the selected project. Each task card shows the number of forms updated and the number of new forms collected. Any new tasks show a NEW badge, and the active task shows an ACTIVE badge.

  4. Tap the required task, then tap Open Task. The ACTIVE badge shows on the selected task.
  5. Tap Forms.

    Forms that have been assigned as a task to be updated have a status of TO UPDATE.

  6. Do one of the following:
    • To update an existing form associated with the task, tap to select the form you want to update. Tap to open the form for editing.

      If required, you can navigate to the feature; tap Navigate to. See Using the navigation options for details.

    • To collect new data, tap + New Form then selected the form template you want to complete.
  7. Compete the form as required.

    If you have a laser rangefinder you can use it to capture remote features that you are unable to get to. See Using a TruPulse laser rangefinder to measure offsets.

    If you have an external sensor, you can use it to capture data and automatically populate sensor fields. See Using utility locators / external sensors.

    NOTE – Any existing data will be updated / overridden when the external sensor is fired. If you fire the sensor more than once, the data is overwritten with the new data until you save the form.

    If you are using a Trimble R12i, R780, or R980 GNSS receiver with TIP™ technology (Trimble Inertial Platform™ technology), a TIP readiness status is displayed. See Connecting to a Trimble GNSS receiver for more information.

  8. Tap to save the form, or next to tap then tap Save As Draft if you need to come back to it later.

When you save the updated form, its status changes to UPDATED.

TIP – If you have a task open, and you want to close it and collect forms outside of the task directly to the project, save / save as draft and close the task, then at the top of the Tasks screen, tap Project.

Completing a task

Once you have finished updating any existing forms as part of a task:

  • on the Home screen, the My work tile shows that all forms have been updated.

  • on the Tasks screen, the task tile shows that all forms have been updated.

You can now complete the task and return it to Map Viewer; the task will be removed from TerraFlex on your device. To complete a task:

  1. On the Tasks screen, tap the task you want to complete.

  2. At the top of the screen, tap .

  3. In the Complete task? popup, tap Complete task.

The task is returned to Map Viewer and is removed from your device.
