Merge Aerial Survey Flight Missions

When working with aerial survey data, you might find it necessary to merge multiple flight missions into a single flight mission that contains all of the flight blocks contained in each of the missions selected for merging. For example, a designated survey site may be too large or too complex to be surveyed in a single flight. As a result, multiple inter-related flight missions might be required to collect all of the data.

Prerequisites:

See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.

To merge flight missions:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select Merge Flight Missions in Photogrammetry > Setup.
    • In the Project Explorer or graphic view, right-click one of the flight missions you want to merge and select Merge Flight Missions in the context menu.

The Merge Flight Missions command pane displays.

  2. Click in the Select flight missions to merge field. Then, in the Project Explorer or graphic view, select the flight missions you want to merge.
  3. Optionally, check the Use individual camera for flight blocks check box if you want to use a separate camera (one camera calibration each) for each individual flight block in the merged flight missions.

You have the option to use only one camera (requiring only one camera calibration) for all merged flight blocks captured with the same camera (check box unchecked), or use a separate camera (requiring one camera calibration each) for each individual flight block. When you opt to use only one camera for all flight blocks that are not RTK or PPK processed, only three GCPs are required. Otherwise, three GCPs are required for each flight block.

  4. Click OK.

If you select a flight mission containing photo stations that have been adjusted, you will be prompted to clear the adjustment before the merge process can continue.

You will be notified if selected flight missions do not overlap, but this will not prevent you from performing the merge.

The newly merged flight mission, which contains all of the flight blocks contained in the missions used in the merge, is displayed in the Project Explorer and graphic views. The other flight mission(s) used for the merge are no longer displayed.

Of the flight missions used in the merge, the one whose name would appear earliest in an alphanumeric list is used as the name for the newly merged flight mission. However, you can change the name using the Properties pane.

You can now perform an adjustment on the merged flight mission.
