Manage Reference File View Filters
Use the Reference File View Filter Manager to change the visibility of data in a referenced file in the same manner objects in your active project.
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Reference file (.vce project) with data you want to reference
To access the command:
- Select Reference File View Filter Manager in Home > Data Exchange.
To filter a reference file:
- Select Reference File in Home > Data Exchange. See Link a Reference File to a Project for details.
- Select a TBC project (.vce) file that you want to reference in the Reference file list.
The Reference File View Filter Manager appears in the same pane as the main View Filter Manager (indicated by the tab at the bottom of the pane).
- Choose an unlocked view filter (or create a new one) in the View Filter list.
- If desired, narrow the view filter by choosing a selection set in the Selection Set list.
Note: Selection sets are automatically created for many types of imported files. For more information on selection sets, see Create and Use Selection Sets.
- If necessary, expand and collapse groups in the Reference File View Filter Manager.
- Check and uncheck boxes to show and hide reference file data types and layers as you watch the changes in the graphic view.
Notes:
- At the bottom of the main View Filter Manager, there is a Reference Files group that allows you to show/hide all visible data from the reference file.
- If any layer names in your active project are the same as layer names in the reference file, you are prompted to add a prefix or suffix to append to all layers shown from the reference file.
- With an object from the reference file selected, you can view but not edit its properties in the Properties pane; all are read-only.
- If you have a surface in your active project, you can add members to it from objects in the reference file.
Dependencies:
- All reference file data that you see in your active project is dependent on the data in the referenc file; any change made there will be reflected in your project.
- If you use reference file objects in a surface in your active project, when those objects are edited in the reference file, you are prompted to rebuild the surface.
- Filtering the visibility or display properties of reference file data in your active project has no impact on its visibility in your reference project.
