Use the Connected Project Explorer
Use the Connected Project Explorer pane (docked next to your Project Explorer) to view and interact with any of your connected projects so you do not need to continually open and use the Connected Workspace dialog to exchange data between TBC and Trimble Connect. The Connected Project Explorer lets you quickly access project and data/file details from Trimble Connect. You can also import data directly using the Connected Project Explorer (to download data, use the Connected Workspace).
Prerequisites:
- See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- You must have a Trimble Connect account with a Trimble ID login. Visit connect.trimble.com to create a free or upgraded account.
To access the command:
- Select Connected Project Explorer in Views > View to display the Connected Project Explorerwindow.
Note: As the Connected Project Explorer is project-independent, (once open) it stays open and docked in your TBC application window until you close it, even if you have no TBC projects open.
To use the Connected Project Explorer:
- Select a connected project in the Projects list. The list changes to the
Explorer tab view of that project's folders and data/files. - If needed, click a folder name to see its contents.
- Click the
Import icon to the right of any file name to bring that data into your current TBC project. - To see field data or field data assignments (if any) for the project, click the
Field Data icon. - When you are done, click the
Back icon to return to the list of connected projects.

File version color coding
If a file or job in the Connected Project Explorer shows a colored border:
- Blue - You have the latest version of the file. No action is necessary.
- Green - There is an update/newer version available. If needed, upload the latest version. This is based on Map Workspaces synchronization.
Supported file types:
In general, any file formats supported in Trimble Connect that are also supported by TBC importers can be imported or downloaded in the Connected Workspace and Connected Project Explorer.
