Create a Job Site

If your project does not already contain a job site, create one so you can assign job site data to one or more controllers for use in the field. When you create a job site, it is stored in the current project, and appears in the Project Explorer, indicated by the icon. A job site is essentially a container in which you can designate portions of project data related to the job site to be available to field crews employing a Trimble® Site Positioning or Grade Control System.

Note: Each project can contain only one job site.

Prerequisites:

To create a job site:

  1. Select Job Site Manager in Construction Data > Controllers.

    The Job Site Manager displays.

  2. Select Create new site, and type a unique name in the New site name box (For details, see the Project and site naming section in Edit a Job Site's Name and Settings).
  3. Check the box for each SCS site controller and GCS machine that you want to assign the job site to in the Controllers group.

Note: You can create a job site without assigning any controllers, but the job site and job site data cannot be saved to, or used on, controllers until you do so. The job site and job site data are saved in your project until controllers are assigned in the future.

Note: Publishing job site data to project libraries does not require the selection of a controller.

  4. Click OK. The second Job Site Manager command pane displays, and the job site appears in the Project Explorer. Start at step 3 in Edit a Site's Name and Settings.

Note: Settings for new job sites are inherited from Project Settings. If these settings are not recognized by the assigned controllers, the Unsupported Project Settings dialog displays. You must resolve unsupported job site settings before cPublish Field Data to Project Libraryreating a job site.

To delete a job site:

  1. Select the job site in the Project Explorer.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click the Delete icon (if on the toolbar).
    • Press [Ctrl] + [D].

The job site is removed from the project and disappears from the Project Explorer.

Note: If you delete a job site in this software, it is removed from the project, but not from the data synchronization area. If you delete a job site from the data synchronization area using SCS Data Manager or Windows® Explorer, it remains in the project, but assignments to any controllers are lost.
